The location is great, right beside the mosque in the medina, and within walking distance of the port and beach. The terrace view was lovely, and the man who checked us in was very nice. The rest of the stay was rough. The room was warm in October because the advertised AC couldn’t be controlled; even after we asked, it wasn’t turned down. Cleanliness was poor too, with hairballs on the floor, hairs on the sheets, and stained towels. The sewage smell was really strong. We had to sleep with the windows open even with the drain hole closed and the fan running. That brought in noise from the rest of the hotel and the call to prayer, so we didn’t sleep well. The website says they accept cards, but the woman working checkout on the morning of October 21st refused to let us pay by card and made us withdraw cash, even though we were heading to the airport to leave the country.

The location is central, close to the kasbah, petit/grand socco, shopping alleys, and parking just 2 mts away. The room, though, was old and moldy, and the bathroom drain caused an unbearable stench whenever it was open. A mixed experience for me.

The staff and location were okay, but that was the only positive part of the stay. Our room was dirty, not because it hadn’t been cleaned, but because of years of neglect and no renovation. Everything felt worn out and old, the breakfast was poor, and the sewage odor was so strong it felt like sleeping in a public toilet. The so-called “city tax” was around 4 € per person per night, shockingly high to me, similar to what hotels in Paris or Rome charge. I’m convinced the hotel is scamming guests with this, especially as it’s only a modest three-star property in Tangier. I booked through Booking.com, where the reviews seemed suspiciously high and none mentioned the serious problems I encountered. A few days after checkout I realized I couldn’t leave a review at all. When I contacted customer service, they said the hotel is managed by a “partner agency” and they “don’t have access” to the reviews. That leaves the Booking.com reviews looking misleading to me, and I believe negative feedback is being filtered out so the place can keep deceiving new guests. I won’t use Booking.com again unless they make sure reviews are honest and transparent for travelers.

Our room was spotless and comfortable, and although it wasn’t large, it felt like good value. There wasn’t much storage, so most of our things ended up on the floor and the room felt a little cluttered. We left at 7:00 on departure day and would have liked the option of a light takeaway breakfast. The hotel is right in the old medina, with the kasbah and waterfront both a short walk away. Breakfast had plenty of choice and a stunning view of the harbour and mosque.
