After dinner, we sat by the campfire under the bright stars and listened to live Berber music from Mohammed and the rest of the staff. The dinner was awesome, slow-cooked, nutritious, delicious Berber food, though obviously don’t expect European dishes. The bubble-shaped domes have all the amenities, including AC, hot and cold water, and a bathroom area. The camp is close to the raw beauty of the Sahara dunes but away from the hustle and bustle of the Merzouga camps. The staff were friendly, efficient, and professional while still giving us space to enjoy our time. I’ve just spent two magical nights here, and I don’t have enough words for the charm and atmosphere. I’ll remember these days forever. Try sandboarding at sunset while you’re there. The staff provide boards for free, and the Sahara supplies the dunes.

The camel ride over the dunes at golden hour was unforgettable, and the camp felt peaceful and thoughtfully put together. Meals were all delicious and generous, and the hospitality was warm, attentive, and genuine. Berber music in the evening and the quiet desert night made the whole stay feel special. Antares Desert Camp exceeded every expectation. A beautiful way to see the Sahara, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional stay! 🫶🏻

Mohamed greeted us when we arrived, always smiling and friendly. Antares Camp looked just like the Google review photos. We took a camel ride at sunset, then had a delicious Berber dinner. The next morning, we walked to the dunes ourselves, just 50 meter from the doorstep. The Sahara is magical already, and staying at Antares Camp made it even better. It was definitely a highlight of our time in Morocco. Before booking, we’d read reviews on YouTube, Google Review, Insta, Trip Advisor, blogs, and other sites. They kept pointing to the same cookie-cutter “luxury camps”: boxy layouts with 10 camps or more packed together, no window view, doors facing another unit, and dated-looking rooms, carpets, and toilets. Antares Camp didn’t show up in those searches. We wanted something newer and well maintained, with a view from the room, more space, and easy access to the sandy dunes. So we used Google Map to find well-rated camps near the dunes, ruling out ones that were far away or close by but rockier, like Mars. Antares ticked all our boxes, and booking through WhatsApp went smoothly. We also booked a private road trip for two with Antares, from Marrakech-Draa Valley-Merzouga-Fes-Casablanca-Marrakech. Ahmed picked us up in a 4WD Toyota Fortuner. He was friendly, kind, polite, witty, and informative, and made the drive feel safe, comfortable, and exciting. Never a dull moment on the road. We highly recommend him for a road trip.

The team were among the friendliest and most helpful we’ve met. They even offered to guide us to the camp and really cared about how our stay went. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food was amazing, and the location was outstanding. With only six tents, the camp felt peaceful and intimate, right in front of the dunes. Our kids could play freely there without us worrying. The value felt exceptional, and I only wish we’d stayed another night. I also appreciated that it’s locally owned, so our stay directly supports the local community.

We left with big smiles and gratitude, and I’d definitely recommend Antares Desert Camp for its friendly, helpful people, good food, and comfortable accommodation. The houses were clean, beautiful, comfortable, and newly made, with a quiet atmosphere that made it easy to relax. We were met by drivers with two jeeps 10 km from camp. The tidy vehicles, good music, and helpful English-speaking drivers made a great first impression. At camp, we rode camels into the Merzouga desert, then returned after sunset for dinner. The food was delicious, probably the best we’d had by the fifth day of our Morocco trip. Afterward, we spent a lovely time by the campfire beneath the stars, listening to Berber music from the camp locals. I was also pleasantly surprised that the camp people understood the threat to Europe from the east and were very supportive of Ukraine 🇺🇦. In the morning, we greeted the sun and they helped arrange a wonderful ATV ride in the desert.
