I’d suggest taking a walk through the dunes at sunrise or sunset, the views are breathtaking. Dar Mama is also just a minute away, and their Berber pizza is worth trying. The hotel itself is a peaceful place close to the desert, with very comfortable rooms and a pool overlooking the dunes that’s perfect for relaxing in the sun. It’s about ten minutes from the desert. The staff were so friendly and kind, always offering Moroccan tea and good conversation. One evening, they played traditional Berber and Moroccan music for a guest’s birthday and showed us how to play the instruments. It was a fun, authentic night. One suggestion: it’d be great if the kitchen served lunch. The two nearby restaurants have the same two dish menu every day, so more variety at the riad would help guests staying several days.

The staff really care about their guests, and you can tell they’re proud of the place. This was probably the best hotel we stayed at in Morocco. Our room, 102, was huge, nicely furnished, and had a great view of the dunes. The pool area looked lovely, though we didn’t use the pool. The food was very good and there was lots of it. The coffee and tea were great too, and breakfast was standard for Morocco, made with good ingredients. You can walk to the dunes for sunset, or stay in the room and watch the sunrise. Wholeheartedly recommended.

At night, the stars are beautiful right in front of the riad, and you can watch both sunrise and sunset from here. It’s a magical view. We had a wonderful stay at Riad Dar Morocco, with comfortable rooms, excellent service, and a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. If you’re visiting the area, I’d honestly recommend staying here instead of spending the night in a desert tent.

We were warmly welcomed at Dar Morocco, and the owner and staff were exceptionally friendly and hospitable. Our room was extremely spacious, the bed was wonderfully comfortable, and the bathroom was bigger than an entire room in a Marrakesh riad. The hotel is close to the Merzouga dunes, so you can walk up to the outer dunes and get your first feel for the Sahara. We stayed one night during a five day trip from Marrakesh, with a stop in Merzouga, and would highly recommend staying here to relax before or after a trip into the real dessert.

The room was large, and the terrace has a nice view, but this was the hotel we enjoyed least. It was windy and the pool was closed, so there wasn’t much to do. We were a group hoping to spend time together, but ten taxi drivers had taken over the salon de thé to watch football. We complained to reception and were told the manager was watching too. There were only about 20 guests in total. Locals were also sitting at reception watching videos on their phones at full volume. With the pool shut and the weather windy, we were bored, and there’s no TV in the rooms. The shower didn’t work properly either. The doors don’t block sound, and the breakfast buffet was set up so badly that only one person could serve themselves at a time.
