The evening by the fire was fun, with Amazigh music and dancing, and we enjoyed the camel ride, including stops to watch sunset on the way to camp and sunrise on the return. The tents were beautiful, the beds nice, and there were plenty of warm blankets for cold desert nights. Dinner was okay, while breakfast was a very small buffet. We had a good time, though the main appeal of booking this luxury camp is having your own sleeping space without strangers.

My girlfriend and her family spent a couple of days on a trip at this camp, and there was a disturbing incident on their last night, Saturday. Around the campfire, one of the local workers tried to get everyone else to leave so he could be alone with my girlfriend. On Sunday morning, one of the bus drivers taking her family back to Marrakech told her that a worker had also tried to send them to bed and kept bothering her with suggestions to look at the stars, walk alone, or ride a camel in the middle of the night. He was about 40, around 5'9"-5'10", with a mustache, tan skin, dark eyes, and short curly hair. He was one of the four local camp workers.

Watching the sunset while riding through the Sahara dunes on a camel was a lovely part of the stay. The accommodation felt authentic and very nice, and the tents had everything we needed. Dinner was really good, and the show afterward was quite nice too.

The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. On a chilly December night the heater did not do much, but the good blankets kept us warm; hot water was the one unpredictable thing. We stayed one night at Erg Chebbi Camp, arriving first at the office in Merzouga, where people driving their own cars can park. A 4X4 took us and our luggage to a nearby dune, then we rode camels for about 45 minutes to camp, with a 20-minute pause for the beautiful sunset. They welcomed us with tea and snacks, then served a tasty three-course Moroccan dinner cooked fresh on site, with plenty of vegetarian choices. We woke early for sunrise and had a hearty breakfast before being driven back to the office at around 10 am. Erg Chebbi Camp surpassed what we expected and made for an unforgettable desert stay.

My teenager loved it too. The staff were friendly and professional, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The camp is luxurious, thoughtfully decorated, and the guide and camel ride were wonderful. It was incredible from beginning to end, I can't recommend it enough. July and August might be far too hot, but otherwise it was spectacular in so many ways.
