The lobby and shared spaces had a lively feel, with lots of Egyptian and Roman artifacts. Our room was nice, and the breakfast buffet was generous. We stayed one night while in the area. Lovely hotel, highly recommend if you're staying nearby.

The hotel has a five-star reputation, but I found the service disappointing for that level. When I asked the front desk to change a 100 dirham bill, about 10 USD, into smaller notes, they said they couldn’t. I’ve stayed at international five-star hotels like Marriott and Hilton in Morocco and never had this problem, so it felt below what I expected. Little service details like that matter to guests.

My son enjoyed the pesto pasta, but my wife’s seafood pasta was awful, with frozen seafood that was undercooked. They didn’t charge us for it and apologized, then brought tea and cookies. The lasagna I had wasn’t particularly good either. We’d been unable to find a good Moroccan restaurant and ended up at the hotel’s Italian one. In this area, eating Italian seemed like a bad idea, since the cooks may not know how the food is supposed to taste.

The facilities were great, but the menu didn’t clearly describe the food. We ordered lamb couscous and got beef sausages with it, though we don’t eat beef and the menu hadn’t mentioned them. I couldn’t see any allergen information either. The manager said they were changing the menu soon.

We’re traveling around Morocco as a group and staying in five-star hotels. Berber Palace has been the best. It’s beautiful, and I wish we could have stayed longer!
