A perfect pause in our travel plans. This authentic place felt like a peaceful mountain retreat where we could spend a few days relaxing. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, made with local ingredients. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return for longer.

The views were beautiful, the auberge was peaceful, and the service was excellent. The food was delicious too. A truly mind blowing experience, highly recommended!

The bed and bedding were the best, with lovely crisp cotton sheets and nice pillows. The setting and gardens are gorgeous and peaceful. The staff were very kind, and they prepare food, so let them guide you with their suggestions. The wines were good too. This is a beautiful place, and its kind owner has been through a lot. The earthquake badly damaged the building. Even though it was fully functioning again a year later, they were still recovering and adjusting. Please be understanding if a few very minor things aren’t perfect.

The room and grounds were lovely, and the waiting staff were amazing. But the mattresses were literally as hard as rocks, and the owner’s behavior set a toxic tone that ruined our stay. She strutted around like Cruella de Vil, shouting at staff, and we felt treated with constant contempt. We ended up sneaking around. She took candlelit dinners in the entrance lobby, sunbathed when we did, and made the whole place feel uncomfortable. Dinner was provided a few times, but we were never shown a price list. When we asked the price, we got a hand wave, and when we brought food from outside, which was much better and literally one tenth of the cost, we got shouted at. When we raised problems, like the missing plug in the bath that made it hard to wash our baby, they were dismissed. The power was out for a day, and because the water is pumped in, we couldn’t even wash our hands. Other places in the area have generators for this regular situation. We also found a gas canister on the roof leaking gas, the shower pressure was barely a dribble, and the “receptionists” treated us with irreverence. We visited other local places with welcoming owners, proper menus, and really great food. There were many other problems here, but above all it was how we were made to feel throughout the stay. Avoid.
