The food was the main drawback on my first visit. The msaman was tough and chewy, as if it had been reheated more than once, and the bread was cold. Still, the welcoming staff, sparkling clean rooms, and cosy, beautiful area made me want to return. Riad Addahab is a few blocks from the art gallery, right beside hammam Alhachimi. I first wrote this three years ago, and I’ve been back many times since because I’ve always loved the atmosphere. My last visit was last summer, about a year ago. When I went again today, I found that all the staff had changed and a lady was now running the place. She was incredibly welcoming. Our “coffee-break” order was done perfectly, and the new team has improved the quality. I highly recommend it now, so I’m changing my rating from 3 stars to 5. It’s definitely worth it!

The street outside isn’t very attractive, and from there you only see a nice wooden entrance. But step inside and it feels like another world. It’s not new, more classic and classy, and would fit right into a romantic film set in 1930s Marrakech. A lovely place for a romantic evening.
