I've travelled around Morocco for over two months, usually staying in budget places, and I've never written a review before, but I felt I should this time. In all that travelling, I've never stayed somewhere in such poor condition or so difficult to find. I know it's cheaper accommodation, but this was very dirty and substandard. Tourists pay for this and nothing seems to get done. It gives the country a bad reputation and points to a complete lack of standards or enforcement, if there are regulations at all. Some people take what they can, and greed is all that's left. Finding the property was a problem too. There's no sign or board, just a door and buzzer. Even when I was at the right location, I spent 15 minutes looking before I had to call. Inside, there was a serious ant problem. The bathroom was very dirty and in poor condition, the kitchen was dirty, and there was dirt or spit on the room walls. One bedroom window was broken and couldn't be opened. The shower had a faulty head and problems with pressure and hot and cold water. A light outside the rooms didn't work, and a kitchen socket was coming off the wall. The room's wall socket was hidden behind the sofa, so it had to be moved to reach it. Nine guests, a family of five, a couple, and me, were sharing one bathroom, while another bathroom was locked and out of use. Morocco is an interesting, beautiful country, and the people are generally friendly, good-natured, and hardworking. Still, tourists are too often treated as if they don't matter and seen only for their money. People who show so little respect may not realize, or care, that visitors from Europe and elsewhere aren't necessarily wealthy. It's all relative, and many of us go back to debt and a high cost of living. I don't want to judge all Moroccans by the same standard, just as in any country, decent people are the majority.
