The Ranch resort

We stayed in a very stylish dome with a great feel to it, and the views from the small valley setting were lovely. There are three pools, including one for children, plus a play area. The place has lots of animals, and you can pet and feed some of them, which is really fun. Quad biking and various tours are available too. The food was good quality, with great Moroccan dishes as well as other choices. It was a special, unique experience, and the location, services, and activities were amazing. I’d definitely come back for a longer stay.

The animals were the part I found hardest to see. Many were in very small enclosures in direct sun, with hardly any shade or protection, and some didn’t seem suited to the climate. It felt sad and uncomfortable to witness. There were also children everywhere, which might work for families but wasn’t relaxing for us. Flies covered the ranch, making it hard to eat, and the food was so bad we left to have dinner elsewhere. My steak from the “steakhouse” was oily, poor quality, and badly overcooked even though I asked for it rare. Service was poor too. After I was stung by a bee, I asked for cream or ice; they said they’d bring something to the room, but nothing arrived. A dessert I ordered to the room took over an hour. It was a very disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

After the busy days in Marrakech, we had three lovely days relaxing here. There’s a main pool and a quieter one, and we tried mountain biking and horse riding. Our bike ride was two hours, which I wouldn’t suggest for beginners in this heat, though shorter rides are available for less experienced riders. The food was freshly prepared and reasonably priced. I’d highly recommend it.

The A frame chalet had spectacular views, and the Ranch felt like a special escape from the bustle of Marrakesh. The staff were lovely and very attentive. Younes at reception was a superstar. It was a brilliant find.
