The grounds are the highlight, a gorgeous garden oasis above the Marina. Some rooms and parts of the property were being worked on during the low season, but we heard no noise and it didn't bother us. There is regular street noise at night, though the main bedroom in the Jardin suite looks onto the garden. The hot shower there was still usable, and the full bathtub has a handheld shower and temperature control, though no curtain. The Villa has a patina of late 19th Century elegance. It hasn't been updated in a while, but that didn't detract from our stay. Karim, the manager on duty, was courteous. It's a private villa, so let them know if someone is coming to visit. Breakfast was nice, especially the msemen, coffee, and fruit. We didn't eat other meals there. Simón, the cat, was excellent. I'd call it about a 4.5 experience. Since Google's rating scale is coarse and the current average is 4.1, I left a 5 to put it above average. I'm adding this recent review as a comparison point because the other reviews are quite divided.

Kamir and Joseph made the stay feel like being welcomed into someone's home, with a cozy atmosphere and the professionalism of a proper accommodation. They're kind, polite, and easy to approach. The services and facilities were all there, and cleaning was very attentive. If I come back to Tangier, Mimi Calpe already feels like home.

The villa is beautiful, with a colonial style that feels frozen in time. My experience with the staff and management was the opposite: they were quite rude, which felt unusual for Morocco, and often nobody from management or staff seemed to be around. A colleague came by for an hour to look at the place and plan the next day. After I had left, they charged my card for an extra night without explaining it. They later said visitors incur a surcharge. I found the charge sneaky, dishonest, and disappointing. They need to communicate better and have staff available. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to experience the generous, open-hearted spirit of Tangier and its people.

The garden is lovely, the pool is nice, and the hamam experience was really enjoyable. It's centrally located, and the staff were great. It was expensive, but we had a good time there with the kids and felt safe and clean.

The kids turned the garden into an adventure, looking for the resident turtles and finding hidden wall art around the buildings. The property has striking architecture, lush grounds, and thoughtful artistic touches throughout. It feels like stepping into 1920s French-era Morocco, with charm and atmosphere in every corner. We had a lovely family dinner in the courtyard beneath the softly glowing lamps, then spent easy afternoons by the pool between trips to the medina and city sights. Coming in from the busy street, the calm was immediate. Mimi Calpe is an experience as much as a place to stay. Thanks to the team for making it such a memorable visit. We'd return in a heartbeat.
