We were asked to leave both the room key and the safe key at reception every time we went out. The safe's digital code was broken, and nobody had told us about this key policy in advance, which made us seriously uneasy about security. When we said we weren't comfortable with it, the owner of Riad Mokhtar reacted aggressively and said we should leave if we wouldn't comply. We agreed to go and started packing calmly, but things got worse. In front of other guests, the owner insulted me and seemed to try to provoke a physical fight. It was deeply upsetting and completely unprofessional. What should have been a peaceful stay became stressful. Being confronted and insulted publicly by the owner isn't acceptable hospitality. I can't recommend Riad Mokhtar to anyone looking for a respectful, safe place. The owner's hostility, lack of professionalism, and disrespect toward guests make it a serious liability for travelers.

We had a meal and drinks on the rooftop one evening. The food was fine after a long travel day, though nothing special. Our room was small but worked well, and breakfast was included. The riad is near the Medina, with a pleasant courtyard and a rooftop bar and dining area. Breakfast in the courtyard offers breads, cakes, yoghurt, and fruit, with eggs available too. It was more than we could eat, but enough to set you up for a day exploring.

Our three-day weekend at this lovely riad felt magical. The room was beautiful, the service was warm, and the food was great. It's a great base for exploring Tangier, with a lovely view. Highly recommended!

Dinner at Riad by Mokhtar was a real treat. The staff made the evening feel easy and enjoyable, and every dish was full of authentic flavor. I loved the setting too, with its mix of Moroccan character and modern elegance. A great place to try Moroccan food in Tangier.
