Maison d'Hôtes Irocha

The food was amazing, with fresh, gorgeous meat and vegetables in the Tajine they cook regularly. Our room was great and stayed warm through winter, and they also heated the dining area. The staff were so helpful and brought real warmth to the place. Irocha has a warm, authentic atmosphere and a stunning location. Getting set up and down each day was wonderful. My stay was outstanding, and I’ll be back.

We turned up anyway and ended up in a two-person room, with a very thin mattress on the floor for our third person instead of the suite we’d booked. There was constant noise at night, dust and sand in the room, and staff who seemed to think kindness was optional. A couple of days before we were due to arrive, the host messaged to say he had double booked our room and kicked us out. He pressured us to cancel but wouldn’t refund us. Other rooms that could fit three people were available, but he refused to offer them. He ignored half our messages and only replied every 12 hours, with no solution before we arrived. After more AirBnB and Google reviews, this seemed to be standard practice for the host. During our stay, the room we’d been given was still listed for booking, so it looked like he was still trying to lure people into the same scam. After 25+ happy AirBnB experiences, I finally had a bad one.

The owner and staff were very helpful and friendly. It’s in a great spot between Ouarzazate and Marrakech, set back from the main road. Parking is limited to about 6-7 cars, though a small camper can fit.

A calm little oasis if you have a day or two to spare. We only stopped for one night, but the rooms were lovely and the beds comfortable. The staff were very nice, and the food is simple. Wine is available if you want it. Thank you for having us.
