The owner eventually dropped the cancellation fee and said he could arrange a room for me at The Perle Du Draa in Zagora, even though I had booked a place outside Tagounite. I turned that offer down, and he got quite angry. Getting the fee waived took a long-distance call to Booking.com in the UK and a conversation with the Tagounite property’s owner or manager. Be cautious with Bivouac du Draa, its sister hotel in Zagora, The Perle du Draa, and Booking.com, which didn’t seem to check whether its business clients were legitimate.

Everything else was great: a nice place, secure parking, a pleasant pool, and good breakfast. The air conditioning barely worked, though. It seemed like it hadn’t been serviced; after running all night for eight hours on the lowest setting, the thermometer still showed above 25 degrees in the room.

The rooms are cozy and comfortable, and the view is amazing. I loved the place, everything is beautiful. The people are so sweet and helpful, they’ll help with anything.

The pool was dirty and had insects around, and my room hadn’t been cleaned properly. The air conditioning did run, but it never cooled the room enough. Reception didn’t feel friendly or helpful either, which made the stay more uncomfortable. The service overall fell short, and the staff lacked the warm welcome I’d expected. I left quite disappointed. There’s a lot that could be improved in both the service and upkeep.
