Hotel Cosmos

The staff were lovely and polite, and their English was good. They let me check in very early and arranged a taxi to the airport for the next morning, about 100 lei for anyone wondering. It’s a nice hotel, reasonably priced and in a very good location.

The hotel has a personality and atmosphere that make it feel like a time machine, and there’s something special and unforgettable about it. The staff are nice, and the rooms aren’t so bad. You might meet all kinds of people in the lobby. Moldovan girls have a very bad opinion of this place, so it’s not where you’d go to impress a woman. The security guard may also ask you something if you try to come in with a girl who didn’t check in with you. There’s a new go-kart track right in front, and it can get really noisy. The location is 5 min walk from the train station, and maybe 15-20 walk or 10 min transport to the center. Malls and bars are very close.

It’s dirt cheap, in a great location, and the staff are about as kind and helpful as you could hope for. The rooms are clean, the linen is good quality cotton, and breakfast is very good if you know what to choose or ask for. If you’re coming from the West and want to see what Soviet hotels felt like, this is the place. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, just don’t expect the Radisson.

The rooms were fine for sleeping, and the reception team was amazing. They called a taxi to a local winery, then called again to move the tour earlier so we could catch our train. Choose this hotel if you want an authentic Soviet experience.
