Hotel Princess

The setting is hard to beat: right by the seaside promenade, with a lovely pool area and great scenery. From our room we could see both the sea and the mountains, even though it was only a partial sea view. There’s plenty of free parking around the hotel, too. The old town is 4 km uphill, about an hour on foot if you feel like walking, or roughly €8-10 by taxi. Our room was clean and smelled fresh, but the hotel itself feels dated and a little shabby. Some parts have been renovated, though the brown tiles aren’t exactly modern. The food was poor, especially breakfast, which I barely ate. Luckily, there are lots of good restaurants nearby. Staff weren’t especially friendly, but I’d noticed the same nearby in restaurants, so it seemed fairly normal. There were lots of children, which was fine since I had my own with me. We also heard some noise in the room on weekend evenings. All in all, it was pretty okay, with the best possible location but bad food.

The hotel is worn out throughout, from the furniture to the fixtures, and what you pay doesn’t match the service. Building work around the pool carries on during the day, making it very loud and unpleasant to relax there. There are no umbrellas, and the loungers are dirty. When I brought up my concerns, the manager just nodded and did nothing. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you don’t want your vacation spoiled.

We were there for two weeks, and the staff made the stay. Everyone was so friendly and helped us enjoy our time, even sharing tips on hidden gems and local culture. The location is superb. For the price, the rooms were really nice, and the food was basic but more than adequate.

The photos don’t quite do this place justice, which is rare. The location is hard to beat, and the extra cost for a sea view room is worth it for the view. Staff are helpful and speak good English. It’s surprisingly affordable for what you get. Breakfast is a buffet from 7-10am, and the room’s minibar has a nice little selection at reasonable prices.
