Larimar

The rooms, bathrooms, and glassware were all very clean. The hotel is run by Russian people who are warm and cheerful, which can be hard to find in Montenegro. They were helpful in lots of ways, including providing free beach umbrellas and transport from Splendid Hotel to Larimar. Highly recommended.

For the price, this is a great hotel with excellent rooms and good service. The staff are helpful, multilingual, and share lots of useful information. The rooms matched the pictures and had what we needed: a bathroom, kitchen, balcony, and, in most rooms, a nice sea view. They also provide beach towels every day, and there’s a safe in the room. The card locks on the rooms and exterior doors, including the door to the outdoor pool, made safety feel like a priority. The pool is a nice bonus. The sea is a bit far away, and the road up to the hotel is very steep, which could make the walk difficult for older people. There are beach transfers three times a day, so you can walk down and ride back. For us, being young and fit, the uphill walk took about five minutes and was quite easy. Budva centre is around 3 km away, or roughly a 25-30 minute walk. There are two routes, one along the road above the hill and one through a tunnel. Both give pretty views of the city, beach, and sea, and we enjoyed walking to the old town and back. Three small markets are nearby, with a larger supermarket a little farther away.

The staff were welcoming, friendly, and happy to answer my questions. For the price, I thought the hotel was very good: my room was spacious and clean, with everything I needed, including a kettle, cups, hangers, and hair dryer. I paid extra for a sea view and didn’t regret it. It was beautiful, even though there’s an abandoned unfinished building nearby. That didn’t bother me. The beach took about 10 minutes at an easy pace, though the hotel is on a hill, so you do have to climb a little on the way back. That wasn’t a problem for me either.

Getting to the beach is an easy walk, and you can continue along the promenade to Budva in about half an hour. The hotel itself is in a very good spot, and I came away with only positive impressions. It’s a new hotel with fresh renovations and spacious rooms. I liked the staff too, they were all very friendly and welcoming.
