Hotel Montenegro sits right by the beach, with lovely sea views and an excellent location. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the food was varied and delicious. The whole hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. We especially appreciated the relaxing atmosphere and the friendly, professional staff who were always happy to help. A special thanks to Zeljko from the Kids Zone for his kindness, professionalism, and positive energy. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return. I’d recommend Hotel Montenegro to anyone visiting Montenegro.

Luis, the barman from Caracas Venezuela, was so friendly and welcoming. Great staff all round, and he deserves a pay rise. The vegan options were few and far between, though, so that’s why I’m giving four stars. Otherwise, well done 👍

The views are stunning, and the beach has plenty of space and loungers. We found places to eat and drink each night in Becici, though some spots were still closed or under construction. A few places were being used for storage or dumping, and I hope the local officials get that sorted before the main season. There was some construction noise around the hotel, but nothing too bad. The main bar advertised as the star bar seemed closed, and the beach bar and restaurant were still being built. We stayed in late May 26. Before leaving, we read recent reviews that worried us, especially the comments about smoke smells and cleanliness. Those fears went away on arrival. The reception area was large and spotless, and check-in staff were friendly enough. We found them professional and helpful. This isn’t Spain or Greece, and the culture is different. Our room didn’t smell of smoke. It had a slight musty smell at first, probably because the season was just starting, but opening the doors for a while cleared it. The room was clean, big enough for two, and had a clean, modern, slightly small bathroom. It was tidied daily, with fresh towels every day, and properly cleaned twice during our seven-day stay. That was fine for us since we aren’t messy. The carpet looked stained in places but was clean. There was no kettle or hot drink setup, but I brought a travel kettle and got cups from the canteen. The fridge wasn’t great, though it kept things cool. The pool area was clean and had enough loungers while we were there. The pool looked clean too, but was too cold for me to get in. The music was a bit repetitive, though I think it might change as the season gets going. The pool bar had reasonable prices and plenty of drink choices. We didn’t eat there, so I can’t comment on the food. Breakfast was fine, with lots of space and plenty of choice, including nice bread, eggs, and fruit. We only used the bar once. It felt more like a professional hotel than a holiday bar, which was fine by us. The gym and spa were good, though I’d have preferred them to open earlier. I made a run work instead. The resort was nice, and picturesque, with lovely views. Bečići doesn’t have much of a holiday feel at the hotel bar, and anyone hoping to make a best friend of a barman or waiter may not get that. We were happy to be left alone and were quite happy with the place overall. We’d definitely return.

The evening meal started at 7pm, which was late for our little one, and made evenings tricky. We had booked all-inclusive, but it wasn’t always clear what was included and what cost extra. Food was fine overall: breakfast and dinner had plenty of choice, while lunch was more limited and seemed to shrink each day as the hotel approached its November 1st closing date. We stayed for a week at the end of October, as a couple with our one-year-old. Our room was clean and a good size, with a proper baby cot rather than a travel cot, plus a baby bath and kettle that made things easier. The balcony was tiny, fine for drying clothes but not really somewhere to sit. Three supermarkets and a pharmacy were within a five-minute walk. It was about a 35-minute coastal walk through a tunnel to Budva Old Town. There wasn’t loads to do there, but it was nice to visit. A 10-minute bus ride, €4.50 return, took us to Sveti Stefan, with a couple of lovely bars and great photo spots. The room got up to 27°C at night. The hotel switches to heating mode in October, so we couldn’t use the air conditioning to cool it down. With a baby, that wasn’t ideal, and leaving the balcony door open was the only option. The pool bar never opened during our stay, possibly because the hotel was closing for the season, and the outdoor areas felt a bit lifeless without it. Restaurant staff were mostly quite miserable and didn’t seem welcoming. Dejan was a real standout, kind, always smiling, and went out of his way to make our little boy laugh at every meal. The gym was out of order the whole time, with no sign of a fix. The kids’ club room was technically open but unmanned. Staff sat on their phones, and there were no activities, despite it being advertised. We had a decent stay, and the location was convenient and the room comfortable, but the air conditioning, meal times, and service let things down a bit.

We stayed for a week in early July, in one of the new section’s modern, well-equipped rooms. The bathroom was spacious and had a walk-in shower. There was a coffee machine, but coffee wasn’t complimentary and showed up on the final bill. Around the pool there were plenty of loungers and parasols. We had bed and breakfast, with a buffet and plenty of choice. There were tables both indoors and outside in the dining area. We ate most daytime meals at El Gusto, the hotel’s beach bar. The staff were fun and efficient, prices were reasonable, and there was live entertainment in the evenings. Becci has few dining choices beyond beach bars and hotels. For a restaurant meal, we went to Budva, where there’s plenty of choice, a 20-30 minute walk or a 10 Euro taxi ride from the hotel.
