Idila Hotel

For what we paid, this was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The rooms were clean, everything worked, and nothing was broken. Breakfast was fantastic, with fresh, tasty food that changed each day. The staff took great care of us. I’d absolutely recommend Idila hotel to friends.

We felt very welcome thanks to the staff, who were helpful and smiling throughout. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and had an amazing view. Breakfast had a great range of choices and was excellent too.

After arriving in Budva on a night bus, we got to the hotel hours before check-in and expected to wait around all day. The manager noticed us and changed our booking to an apartment so we could get in early and sleep. The team were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and friendly, and ended up being the best part of our time in Budva. Our room was very clean and had all the facilities we needed, and breakfast each morning offered plenty of options. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from the beach, with several mini supermarkets nearby, and about 10-15 minutes on foot from the bus station. Highly recommend staying here.

The main annoyances were the room lights. The minibar is a bar-style fridge with a glass door, and its light stays on softly all the time. The door light runs on a motion sensor you can’t switch off. Ours had already been partly taped over, so we could get to the bathroom without triggering it, but it was still very sensitive and extremely bright. It could easily spoil a night’s sleep. I wouldn’t rule out staying here again, but I’d tape it up as soon as I arrived if needed. It’s a really poor design. The safe also didn’t work at first, though staff fixed it quickly by leaving us the key. The hotel itself is decent, with modern, clean rooms and some of the most helpful staff we met in Montenegro. The quiet location is a few side streets away, and Google Maps has it right. Breakfast was good, with a decent selection, though the buffet area was cramped and staff were helpful. Parking is in an underground lot. It’s easy to spot in daylight as you drive up, but you need to go through a barrier just before the hotel. Staff open it remotely, so someone has to go in and ask each time. That wasn’t a problem for us. Would we stay again? Most likely.
