Hotel Athos Guesthouse

My spouse and I were very happy with our stay. The hotel felt reliable, was extremely clean and comfortable, and the kind, attentive staff answered all our questions and helped with anything we needed. Thank you for everything.

The old town neighborhood is absolutely amazing. I was worried after reading negative comments, but everything was fine. Check-in took five minutes after I called, and while the room's equipment was older, it was all clean. There was even a working kettle, so I'd stay again. The one issue the accommodation mentions is the bar next door. It's really loud until 1 am. Small things like a broken TV don't bother me.

The bathroom is outside the room on the public stairs. There's no window in it, and it smells strongly of mold. The first time I went in, I found a dead insect. That moldy odor reached my room on the first night, and I woke up to a stinky room. I asked reception to sort it out. They said they would, but nothing happened. They left only one toilet paper roll and didn't check over the four nights if we needed anything. The men working there didn't speak a word to me, and looked at me with attitude while talking in their own language. It was very uncomfortable. The bar plays live DJ sets every day and on weekends until 1 am, at least in July, so this isn't a place for sleeping early. And definitely don't take the top room: it's tiny, with one small window and a very slanted ceiling that makes it hard to sit upright on the bed when you wake up. The room generally wasn't clean, and the old wooden furniture and floor didn't feel like a proper hotel for the amount I paid.

Avoid this place. Nobody speaks English, and it wasn't clean at all. We paid for a night with breakfast, but there was no breakfast and they still haven't refunded us. In the middle of the night, someone tried to get into our room. Better off sleeping on the street.
