Hotel Vardar Kotor

Jelena at reception made us feel welcome and even arranged parking for us. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and I’d recommend the place without hesitation. You couldn’t ask for a better spot, right inside the old town walls. Our room was huge, and the bathroom felt super modern.

Breakfast had a good range of food for vegetarians, and it never got too busy. The front desk staff were lovely and really helpful. I stayed in a suite with a gorgeous view over the main square, and the location couldn’t be better. I also spent one night in a regular room by choice, because there was a concert in the square and the hotel kindly moved me. It was perfectly fine for sleeping. The centre of the Old Town can get noisier, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, though it wasn’t outrageous. That comes with staying right in the centre. I’m a light sleeper and slept fine most of the week. Earplugs did the trick, and reception can give you some if you forget yours. Cheers!

We stayed August 6-9, 2025, and I was surprised by some of the reviews I’d read. Although the hotel is right at the old town entrance, our room was very quiet. Close the curtains and it’s great for sleeping all day 😄 At check-in we arrived early, so the kind receptionist explained our room wasn’t ready and gave us a locked room for our suitcases. Once our room was ready, she let us know on WhatsApp. They also gave us a free suite upgrade and champagne for our honeymoon, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Thank you again. I don’t agree that they treat you badly once they realize you’re Turkish. The shopkeepers and employees around here are generally very rude, so maybe that’s what some people experienced. It’s really uncomfortable if you’re not used to it. The woman who looked after us at reception, though, was incredibly kind and sweet. The restaurant is another story. The reviews about the waiters are true: they were rude and acted as if serving us was a chore. We ate there once and didn’t eat or drink there again because we didn’t want to deal with that attitude. We were very happy with the hotel throughout our stay, but the restaurant could be better. The menu is very limited and the waiters are rude.

A lovely room, friendly and helpful staff, and delicious breakfast included. The hotel is in a great spot in Old Town Kotor. Definitely recommend!
