Hotel Villa Duomo

This is a fabulous old hotel within the old city walls. It’s been renovated but is showing some wear. We stayed in a deluxe suite on the top floor and loved it. Location, staff, and breakfast were excellent, though it’s pricey. Some websites say the hotel has parking or a sauna, but neither claim is true. The nearest parking is 1km away and costs 2€ per hour.

The rooms are beautiful and the location is fantastic, so it’s a real shame our second night was completely ruined by the bar next door. The dance music was ridiculously loud until 1am, as if the speaker were in our room. We expected some town noise in such a central spot, but this was far beyond that. Reception said they ask the bar to turn it down, but there’s nothing else they can do. I understand the noise isn’t directly under their control, but guests should be told when booking that certain rooms get significant noise. A discounted rate for those rooms would make sense too. It’s a beautiful hotel, which makes the experience all the more disappointing.

A pretty hotel, but some rooms are so close to the bar next door that sleeping from Thursday to Sunday is impossible. The staff didn’t help, and there was no refund or discount. I ended up sleeping on my friend’s floor, thankfully in a different room.

Breakfast was delicious, with a nice range of food. When we were ready, the cook made us lattes, and the orange juice tasted freshly squeezed. The staff were professional, friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. We really enjoyed chatting with them. The room was lovely and clean, and everything was well maintained. The bed was a bit firm for us, but still comfortable. The hotel is right in the middle of everything in Old Town Kotor, with dining and shopping just outside.
