Kotor Nest

We had half a floor to ourselves, and the building’s historic character gave us a real sense of local life. The location is excellent. But what made me finally write this long overdue review was the help we got when my family stayed here last summer. We faced a serious problem that involved the police, though it had nothing to do with the hotel. The manager helped call the police and let my young child stay safely in her office when we needed it most. We’re very grateful. It’s a great hotel, run by decent, honest and helpful people, and we had a lovely experience.

The location is right in the old city center. I got a new room three stairs farther from reception. It had clean, modern decor, a small kitchen and a washing machine. The ceiling slopes down and is low, and I bumped my head against it a few times in both the living room and bedroom.

The rooms are very calm, with almost no outside noise. Cleanliness, the comfortable bed and pillows, and the toilet and shower all deserve top marks. The old town location is excellent, though of course there’s no parking. The small drawback was noise coming through between guest rooms. I had a family with small children next door, and the noise was annoying when I was trying to relax in the evening. I’ll return, maybe asking for the most isolated room.

The team were friendly, attentive and quick to respond, and you can’t beat this location. A couple of things to keep in mind: the building has no soundproofing. I was in room #11 and could hear both the street and the reception area. Since it’s in the old town, there’s also about a 10-minute walk from the main entrance over cobblestones, which is awkward with rolling suitcases. Once you reach the hotel, the first floor is actually the second floor, so you have to carry your luggage up two flights of stairs.
