I’ve stayed in the apartment four times for a total of 21 nights, and I’m due back for a couple of nights at the end of February ’26. I’m writing about the holiday apartment “Old Town Kotor Square,” which I believe this listing is meant to refer to. The property is listed on Booking.com and airbnb. It’s right in the middle of the old town, in a private, secure building with gated entry using a key fob. The apartment has a living room with a full kitchen and sofa bed, a separate double bedroom, and a bathroom with a washing machine. It’s equipped for just about anything you might need, even on a longer stay. From the living room windows, the views over the canvas restaurant awnings to the mountains are impressive. The windows are triple glazed, and the only noise I’ve heard is the restaurant below chopping vegetables!

Our first visit to Kotor was during a Mediterranean cruise. We came ashore by tender and explored on our own using Google Maps and my research. Old Town was eye-opening, with so much history, and we found plenty of places to stop for coffee or food. Many of the well-known buildings are on or just off the square, so we took lots of pictures.

We wandered around Kotor Old Town for a while and stopped for a pint at a local place. The narrow streets and old stone buildings give it that medieval feel, and it was pleasant enough, but it didn’t feel especially distinctive compared with other historic towns we’ve visited. A nice way to spend some time, just not a particularly memorable one.

The cruise crowds leave little room to explore, and the old town feels soulless now. It could be a very nice historic place, but cheap souvenir shops seem to be everywhere. Some parts of the city, including the city walls, also seem to go unmentioned. If things stay this way, I wouldn’t return.

You could easily spend a whole day wandering the charming narrow alleys. There are museums to explore, along with historic sites, souvenir shops, and plenty of places to eat. It’s definitely worth a visit, with enough to keep you entertained as you go.
