Royal House

We were really happy with our choice of Royal House and would stay again if we return to Kotor. Rara, the owner and host, was lovely and helpful, suggesting places to park and restaurants to try. I could have talked with him for hours about Kotor, Montenegro, and his travels in the maritime industry. There are a few other apartments on the same floor, and the setup is very nice. We spent our last night of a wonderful week in Montenegro here, wanting at least one night in the old city after staying outside Kotor most of the trip. Our second-floor walk-up was near the north side gate, handy for the start of the fortress climb and for restaurants and shops. It was spacious and bright, with one large room and a nice kitchen. The bathroom was small, as is common in many places in Montenegro and Europe. From the apartment you can see the mountain and a small church on the way up to the fortress. Since ours was toward the back of the building, it was very quiet, with little to no street noise.

I've stayed with Rara at the Royal House apts many times on visits to Kotor. He's a wonderful host and always ready to help. The apartments are spacious, bright, clean, and have everything you need, including great WiFi. They're right in the Old Town, near all the nice cafes and restaurants, and there's a huge parking lot a five-minute walk away by the North Gate.

The house is right in the centre of the old town. Rara was incredibly helpful with everything, the best host I've met.

Rara was friendly and mostly helpful. He met us in person and left a nice vase of fruit. The apartment is right in the city centre, near bars, restaurants, and other attractions, but cars can't reach it, not even taxis. No one told me about that beforehand. Parking is offered, though I didn't use it. The place was in good condition, functional, and well equipped, and the A/C worked really well. The equipment is all basic and cheap, so don't expect luxury. The bathroom is small, with the toilet seat awkwardly in the corner. There's a window but no view, since the neighboring building is very close. Noise was really strong, especially on the weekend, even with all the windows closed. The stay was good overall, and it's a nice option inside the city walls, though I expected more comfort for the price.
