Hotel Bokeljski Dvori

The food made every meal feel special, and the views are beautiful too. What stayed with me most, though, was how welcome I felt from the first day. The boss kindly accommodated everything and made the stay feel personal. Sorry, I’ve forgotten your name! It really felt like home, and I’d recommend it to anyone after a warm, authentic experience.

The rooms are far up, with tens of stairs to climb and no elevator, and there’s no air conditioning either. We explained that we physically couldn’t get upstairs, so we didn’t stay in the apartment, but the owner still kept the full amount. The place was in very bad condition and, in my view, took our money dishonestly. I’d choose anywhere else in the area. Consider yourself warned. This place calls itself a hotel, but it wasn’t even hostel standard.

Having private parking and being in the second row from the lake were useful, and breakfast was really good. But getting around the hotel was difficult: every guest room is on the second floor, up four flights of stairs, with no lift. Nobody offered to help with our luggage. Our room felt like an attic, and I hit my head several times on the sloping ceiling when coming out of the bathroom. The bathroom was tiny, had nowhere to hang a towel, and only a curtain instead of a proper door. The porch was so small that just one person could sit there. The hotel itself isn't right next to the lake, despite being close by. Another thing that felt odd was the owner keeping our passports for about an hour, then returning them only after we asked. She had checked them closely for airport stamps, and I couldn't see why. That had never happened to me at a hotel.
