Tramonto Apartments

We ended up wishing we could stay longer than our two weeks. The place was spotless when we arrived and had everything we needed to settle in. The bed was comfortable, and both my wife and I could work remotely and take Zoom calls. I ran a speed test and got about 40mb/s, which is good for the area. There’s construction about 100m away, but with the windows shut we didn’t notice it. You’ll likely be out exploring while the workers are there anyway. The gated parking gave us peace of mind, and the hosts replied quickly and shared lots of local recommendations. Shops are close by, Porto Montenegro is 15 by car, Lustica Bay 30min, Old Kotor 20-25min depending on tunnel traffic, and Budva 30min without traffic. It’s a handy central spot. The owner was really nice and helped us with everything. Our room was spacious and very clean, with a nice mountain view. There’s a large, fairly secure parking area inside. Construction is nearby, but not so close that we heard it, and the location makes it easy to get to places like Kotor and Budva. The airport is also easy to reach. During our three days, I only heard a plane twice. There’s a cable car that should open to the public in a few weeks.

The construction noise was terrible. There’s now work going on seven days a week, and the photos advertising the place are outdated. We booked 28 nights and left after just one because the host hadn’t told us about it. We could hear planes from the nearby airport and the busy road, but those didn’t bother us. The workers on a huge construction project made it impossible for us to enjoy any peace. When we raised the issue and canceled, the host insisted we leave by 11am, so we had no time to find a more suitable place. It was our first day in a foreign country, and we had no data, which made the situation incredibly stressful. That’s why I’m writing this review.

The place looked quite different from the photos when we arrived. Every window and balcony faced major construction right outside, and nobody had told us it was happening. At times the noise was so loud I could see ripples in my cup of tea. I also wouldn’t bring kids here. There were no plug sockets in the kitchen, so an extension lead ran across the walkway and created a trip hazard, especially concerning around boiling water. In my home country, stuffing folded toilet paper into a socket would be considered a fire risk.
