Apartments Subotic

I still think fondly of the three summers we spent there, in 2003, 2004, and 2005. Host Petar, his wife Lepa, and their sons Stefan and Marko made us feel part of a wonderful family in a beautiful setting. Those unforgettable summers stay with us, and I hope we'll make the trip back someday. Fantastic, and warm greetings to the hosts.

We stayed May 22nd to 30th, and the bay was already wonderfully warm. It's a good choice if you like cooler weather and want to travel outside peak season. Our apartment had a sea view, a cozy feel, and a convenient location. The owners were incredibly friendly, and the kitchen had everything we needed, with towels provided. A lovely stay, highly recommended.

We found surprises at every turn in this unusual place. First, an antique French car collected us from the airport. Then we arrived at an apartment in an old fisherman's house. It wasn't completely windowless, as there was a small kitchen window and two little windows in the door, but the lack of windows didn't make us uncomfortable. There was no TV, and we never switched on the air conditioning because fresh air was plentiful. The tiny kitchen nudged us toward eating breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner by the sea, which was literally 0! meters away. Just outside the courtyard, a small platform served as a beach, a restaurant area with tables, a stone barbecue and charcoal, and our TV, with the sea, mountains, sun, yachts, and boats on every channel. Three steps down and the September bay water gave us a brief chill, then a fresh feeling followed by warmth. That sudden contrast physically eased the tension I'd brought with me to Montenegro. There were plenty more pleasant surprises. Host Peter's serious, masculine face came with a warm manner toward us. Local shops sold excellent groceries at affordable prices, from 1 to 15 euros, and the market had local fruit and vegetables on Saturday and Sunday. Perast, the pearl of Kotor Bay, is nearby at 2.5 km, and we walked there. Kotor is close too, though that's a short drive. All in all, a wonderful place. Apartments with windows are available as well, but booking early matters.

Apartments Subotic is well set up for a summer holiday. The renovated old stone house has a first floor and an attic, is equipped for a stay, and sits right by the sea. There's private parking. The owner comes from a well-known old Risan family, and all of them are intellectuals who speak foreign languages.
