Rafting Blue River Tara

Blue River Tower gave us top-notch gear and English-speaking guides who knew the river and its eddies inside out. They grew up around there, were helpful and skilled, and made us feel super safe. There are plenty of skippers offering trips, but we were really glad we chose them. Thanks for such an incredible experience and for taking such good care of the Tara and its beauty. The drive takes about three hours up the mountain from the coast, but even for a day trip, it’s worth it. Rafting down the Tara River through Europe’s deepest gorge is mind-blowing. Photos and words can’t capture it. You have to see that breathtaking beauty for yourself, it makes you feel closer to God.

We had a great time rafting there and taking the zip line at pivo lake. The people were responsible, funny, and helped us with everything. The breakfast and lunch option with rafting was really tasty. I highly recommend it, 100%!

The river was stunning, with clear turquoise water, and the stops were nicely spaced out. There were cold drinks and things to explore or do along the way. We went in August, when the water was low, which made the ride interesting. Our guide was excellent. We didn’t stay overnight, just did the full rafting package, and it was fantastic. The restaurant food was a surprise too: delicious breakfast, and the fish and meat at lunch were among the best meals we’ve had on this trip. Excellent value for money, and I can’t recommend it enough.

The rafting was the highlight. They provided the gear and drove us about 16km away so we could raft back to the hotel. Our guides knew their stuff. We went in July, and the water was rough enough to get everyone squealing, but not enough to tip us out unless you wanted to take the plunge. There’s a stop on the Bosnian side where you can buy a cold drink, no visa required. Bring euros, a coke or ice tea was €2.50. You can swim there and jump from the cliff into the river too. The place itself was excellent all round, a fantastic spot to stay. The room was comfortable and had good A/C, and the river and mountain views made for a really atmospheric place to eat and drink. Breakfast comes with the room, and rafting includes lunch. The food was superb and well priced for such a remote location. The beef was beautifully cooked, and the whole fish was delicious too. All in all, a brilliant place to visit.
