Hotel Villa Royal

The staff were what stood out most. After a difficult travel day, we had no phone reception and then got a flat tyre while the car was parked a couple of kilometres away. Ivanka went out of her way to call around for the right tyre size and find a mobile mechanic to replace it. We were very grateful for her help. The hotel itself was luxurious, spotless, and comfortable, with strong shower pressure. The beach was close enough to walk to and had an amazing view.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. We were promised breakfast boxes for our very early flight, so we didn't buy food ahead of time. At reception, the man on duty had no idea about the arrangement and went looking for something, but we left with nothing. The hotel later offered a free lunch for when we returned to Montenegro, which was ridiculous, and said its policy didn't allow breakfast refunds. Visitors to Tivat should know there's nowhere to buy food in the early morning, including at the very small local airport. The room was small, we could hear the neighbours clearly, and there was no way to adjust the temperature. There wasn't a proper blanket either. The price didn't match the value.

We'd happily stay here again. The manager was very kind and sorted out a small jacuzzi mix-up right away. We also got a lovely little gift of house wine. The hotel felt freshly renovated, with spacious, comfortable rooms that were clean throughout. We were even upgraded, and the view was amazing. It's beside the beach in a quiet area, while the centre and Porto Montenegro are still a short walk away. Breakfast was simple but did the job.

The room was on the small side, but it was so cozy and comfortable for a good night's sleep after a full day out. I also had my own jacuzzi, which was a lovely way to unwind. The decor is beautiful, and the boutique hotel has a welcoming feel. The waterfront and nice local restaurants are just a short stroll away. The staff were kind and warm from the moment I arrived, and they surprised me with a delicious bottle of their family-owned white wine. It made the stay feel personal.
