Atlantis Madagascar

Marcel at reception was amazingly charming and looked after everything we needed. We had a relaxing stay and the hospitality was nice, even though the weather wasn't on our side. The rooms are nice, but the shower water is cold unless you ask for hot water to be brought up, and we just stuck with cold showers. You flush the toilet with buckets of water too, which is probably normal for hotels here. The menu could be better, though. We saw more appealing options and snacks at a neighboring hotel.

The diving with Laurence was really nice, with lots of great sites, and she was a good guide. The trip in the pirogue was great too, and all the other staff were friendly and helpful. Their gear was well maintained and came in a good range of sizes. I can't say anything about the rooms or food since I didn't stay here, though the menu looked simple and seemed about the same price as other places on the beach. It looks like the captive lemur is gone, at least I didn't see it.

Horrible! She rented us a room for two nights, but when we decided to take a tour with other people for about half the price, SHE KICKED US OUT of the hotel. It was high season, we had nowhere to sleep, and there were no boats available to go back. Luckily, another hotel took us in for the night, and it was a lot better. Be careful with her: she books rooms directly with you to save the booking commission, then throws you out as soon as there's a problem.

We had a great time at Atlantis. Laurence was really nice and a good instructor when we got our PADI Open Water Diver licence there. We practiced in the swimmingpool and the lagoon, then dived at wonderful canyon sites with great visibility. It was an amazing experience. We also had lunch and dinner there, and the food was fresh and well prepared. The crew were really nice too. If you're lucky, you might see the miceomakis. So cute!
