Le Louvre Hôtel & Spa

I wouldn't stay here again unless things change. The staff were kind and the bed was comfortable, but for the price, the hotel felt far from a proper 4-star experience. The suite's air-conditioning didn't work well, and the water in the bath came out yellow and visibly dirty. That was unacceptable for a suite in a hotel presented as 4-star. Extras were shockingly expensive. Breakfast was €15 per person and very poor quality. A Coca-Cola cost 9,000 Ariary, and a basic bottle of water was 12,000 Ariary, with no complimentary water. The airport transfer was €25 per person, or €50 for two. I declined and took a local driver for €25 total, which made the hotel's price seem inflated. At the pool, guests had to wear a cap. Maybe that's a local rule, but it isn't standard at an international 4-star hotel and added to the feeling of unnecessary restrictions. The hotel's priorities seemed to be charging as much as possible for everything rather than providing the experience expected at that level.

I've stayed here several times over the past 3 years. The location is handy, with good restaurants and a supermarket nearby, though people may be waiting outside for you. Most staff are kind and attentive, and the lobby and security team are always helpful. One receptionist I've encountered over the years can be rude and disgruntled. Rooms are inconsistent. Some have been clean and nice; others had shower heads that didn't work properly or windows that wouldn't close fully. There's street noise, often from construction, and not many places to sit besides the restaurant. The breakfast that's included is very overpriced. The pool area is nice if you get there before it closes at 9. I'd give 3.5 stars, but can't, so 4.

The staff were wonderful, always greeting us warmly. They lent us an HDMI chord so we could watch TV from a laptop, and even opened the spa at 6am for me. The spa itself was incredible, the nicest place I've ever been to. The hot tub could have been hotter, with more bubbles from the jets. Our rooms were lovely, well put together, spacious enough, and had a great shower and bathroom. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and dinner the night before was great too. I'd recommend the Chicken Thighs and Fries, though the fries could have cooked a bit longer. There are shops and a cash withdrawal place nearby, and security outside were always ready to help. The location loses a star for the number of people begging outside. Security helped a lot after some kids got too touchy. An incredible place with lovely, super-friendly staff.
