Central Hotel Tana

The rooms were neat and clean, and the staff at reception were friendly. I liked the service, especially for what the stay cost. They also provided drinks like water and juice, and the AC was a plus.

The Indian restaurant was decent, with halal food, good service, and generous portions. I often had to get takeaway to share. The noise was another matter: one evening the music was unbearably loud, like a bad nightclub. I asked them to turn it down, but it was blaring again 15 minutes later. There was no sense of dinner music at all. The hotel is on the cheapish side, in a part of Tana I hadn’t stayed in before, basically Little India. I wouldn’t recommend going out at night there. In any case, insecurity has worsened across Tana, whatever the area. They gave me two small bottles of water when I arrived, and that was it. I asked for laundry on three separate occasions and it never got done, so I had to buy an iron to get my shirt presentable for a meeting.

The location left us uneasy throughout our stay because it felt dangerous. Inside, the room wasn’t cleaned properly, and the breakfast was terrible, well below an acceptable standard. There was no hot water at any point, and shower water wouldn’t drain properly. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I stayed for two weeks, and the front desk put me in a room full of Roaches. The area around the hotel is very dangerous. Watch out for the door men too, they want your money. Don’t ask them to get you a taxi, since they double the fare to take their share. Customer service was poor.
