Le Grand Hotel Antsiranana

Shops are nearby, and there's a taxi bay within walking distance. Just across the road you'll also find a discotheque and a quad bike rental. I stayed for three nights and really liked the hotel. The staff were friendly and very supportive, and room service was good. The chef was wonderful and happy to cook to your liking, whatever the cuisine, as long as you explain what you want. Breakfast was good too, though the presentation could use some work. I'd recommend the place to Indian travellers. 👍

The breakfast gets repetitive, with the same buffet and only a few items every day. Still, it's a standard hotel in Diego, right in the center and in a safe area. The staff are really friendly, especially Frida at reception and Ibrahim.

A decent place, though it feels rather old. Breakfast was really lousy, and the coffee didn't taste good. I stayed Mon 6 to Thursday 9 May 2024.

The shower water was only mildly warm, barely better than cold. And for a hotel described in the guidebook as a luxury hotel in the city, this was well below par. It was the worst hotel of my Madagascar stay. The bigger problem was sleep. I was there on a Saturday in a first-floor room facing the street, directly across from a bar and dancing club. Music and people dancing came straight through the window from 9 pm. I had a 9:30 flight the next morning and went to bed early, but couldn't fall asleep. Earplugs and pulling the bedsheet over my head barely helped. I thought the music might stop after midnight, but I was wrong. It got louder, and when I complained to reception, they couldn't help. The noise finally stopped at 5 am when the bar and disco closed, so I didn't sleep all night. The hotel must know that street-facing first-floor rooms get the disco noise, yet they still put guests there. The room really needs sound insulation.
