Couleur Café

The reception staff’s unwillingness to help with our booking dates was the biggest disappointment. We told them 48 hours ahead, but they wouldn’t assist, so we paid for two rooms on a night we didn’t stay and an extra room for another night that we did use. Their uncooperative attitude and lack of flexibility were the main reason for this review. The rooms themselves were fine, but no more than that, and the shower’s water flow was very weak.

The worst part was the service. We needed to cancel one night and move it to the previous night. Because that change was last minute, we paid a very high fee for the earlier night, and got nothing for the night we cancelled. It felt very unfair, like they took advantage of the fact we had to pay for that earlier night. They weren’t friendly or willing to discuss it. The room upkeep was poor, the shower barely flowed, and breakfast was very limited. Don’t book this hotel.

The restaurant staff were absolutely lovely, and the grounds are beautiful. We stopped for one night on our road trip south toward Ranomofana. The room was large, but it really needs mosquito nets. There were mosquitoes everywhere, as several other reviews have mentioned.

The shower had poor water flow, and both the dinner and breakfast disappointed us. Dinner didn’t live up to the feedback we’d seen, and breakfast had very little variety. We’d booked two nights but had to cancel the second after a last-minute change to our trip. We’d paid in advance, and although the booking said same-day cancellation was free, they still refused to refund us. Very disappointing.
