Hotel Kartiffa

I wouldn't suggest staying more than a night or two. The view across the bay is nice, though an old, crumbling building nearby spoils it. My room was okay and had a mosquito net and air conditioning, but the bathroom was worse, with bits of the ceiling falling down. Breakfast wasn't anything special.

The terrace looks out over a beautiful sea view. The rooms are good and have A/C, though the toilets are small. A very good place.

I stayed from July 28 to August 19, 2025. The hotel provides decent services in general, but my arrival was a problem: although a friend had made a reservation, they couldn't find my room. They first offered me a very expensive one, then, after I insisted, gave me an available room. The restaurant was extremely slow, and housekeeping didn't happen every morning. The reception was the biggest concern. The new manager was unpleasant and unfriendly, never greeted guests, and left a poor impression of the hotel. Several people who visited me during my three-week stay noticed the same thing. On August 18, a water issue meant I couldn't shower. I just reported it, but instead of helping, the manager criticized me and spoke aggressively. I decided to leave. It's a shame that a reputable establishment in Diego Suarez would put such an unprofessional person at reception and undermine the guest experience.

We stayed here in early July and had a very good stay. The atmosphere was great, and the owner was very friendly. I hope she asks guests what they think and makes changes to address the problems, instead of having reviews and complaints posted publicly. The bay view is fantastic, and the shaded terrace was a lovely place to eat or have breakfast. In the mornings we waited for fresh fruit from the street vendors. But the red floor paint in the rooms rubbed onto our socks and pants, the window mosquito nets had holes, the restaurant was extremely slow, and the receptionist wasn't friendly or welcoming.
