Residence Matsiatra

I've left more than 100 reviews on Google and this is my first one-star review. We arrived at 7pm expecting the room we'd booked, but were told it had been given to someone else. They suggested another hotel that had only one three-star review, from four years ago. We left, then they came after us with an aggressive taxi driver who couldn't control his temper; the receptionist had to calm him down. When I book a room, I expect to be able to sleep at that hotel, without being panicked into finding somewhere else on arrival. I strongly recommend avoiding this place if you need a guaranteed place to sleep.

The food was great, and the French owner is really nice. You can tell he puts a lot of love and attention into running the place. My room's bed wasn't very comfortable, but everything else was super. I stayed one night and would come back.

The owners have decorated this place in a really nice style. They even have a proper pizza oven, so get a pizza while you're here, it's absolutely worth it. It'd be nice if they spoke a bit more English.

The rooms are spacious, the food is good, and all the areas are clean and well looked after. Some of the staff speak English well, while others speak a little.
