The food was delicious and fairly priced, with the bill based on what you order. I paid less than the other guest because I skipped meat, fish, and dessert. Patrick even cooked tofu I had brought from home for the first time, and it came out perfectly. The room was cosy, with one double bed and a single, and cost MGA 60000. I booked by WhatsApp and it went smoothly. The mattress sagged, which seems usual in Madagascar, and there was just one power outlet. The toilet is shared and very clean, with a separate shower room on the ground floor. You share them with the family and other guests, and there are two guest rooms total. Hot water worked well when water was available, which is a common issue in Mada. It's a very quiet spot in the old town on the hill. Cotisse station and the supermarket are about a 30-minute walk away, and there's only one restaurant in the old town. The center is reachable on foot or by taxi for about MGA 10000. No Wi-Fi, and ATMs are 10-15 minutes away on foot. Since it's a pedestrian zone, cars and taxis can't get directly to the B&B, so there's a 3-5 minute walk. Locals are happy to carry luggage for MGA 2000-4000. The area feels safe.

We had a wonderful guide, Emeric, who took us around the area, including Ambalavao and its zebu market. Back at the traditional Malagasy house in the historic upper town, the city view was breathtaking. Patrick is a real gourmet cook, and the breakfasts were generous and excellent. Dinner was planned together with the guests. Such a memorable stay, I highly recommend it.

We were so warmly welcomed and spent two lovely nights in this charming old house in the upper town. Thank you, and hope to see you again soon!

We liked our first stay so much that we came back a few days later, and were just as happy the second time. Julienne and Patrick are such a kind, welcoming couple. Everything was spotless, both the rooms and bathrooms, and the meals they make really are as good as people say. A big thank you to them for making us feel so welcome.

We only came for dinner, so we can't really comment on the rooms, though the outside looked lovely and we'd consider staying overnight. Julienne and Patrick guided us through cooking a wonderful meal, and the food was delicious. The view was magnificent, and the location right in the protected old town is hard to beat. Julienne speaks very good English, and they both speak French. It would have made the experience feel complete to shop for the ingredients together at the market too, which should be possible if requested.
