Vannie Hotel

The receptionist speaks great English and helped me work out a bus to Ranomafana. She even sent the security guard along to the station with me, though I could probably have managed on my own since there are English speaking touts. It’s a great location near the taxi brousse station, and I’d stay again. My room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was a good size with hot water, though there was no toilet seat. It was worth the 60k price. The 50k room is smaller and has no balcony. The restaurant food was good, especially the pizza, and my friend liked the soup special, but the waitress seemed overwhelmed and they don’t sell drinks, not even bottled water. After dark the security guard can run to the store for what you want, with no fee. The main downside was morning noise from the water pipes and people moving around the hotel. It started before 5 a.m., though I was getting up at 5:45 anyway.

We stayed here twice, heading to Ranomafana national park and then back toward Tana. It’s a great spot if you need a long-distance bus or taxi-brousse, with both stations only a short walk away. The room was cheap and the hotel was good value, with very friendly staff, although most don’t speak English. Wi-Fi was sometimes unstable. There are public balconies on the upper floors. Breakfast was included, with bread, a piece of butter, some jam, and coffee.

A pleasant welcome bottle of water in the room, and an ordinary breakfast was included. The room was clean, the staff helpful, and it’s near the bus and train stations. The price seemed fair. Satisfactory.

The restaurant serves great food, and the hotel is conveniently placed for getting into the town center. The rooms are comfortable and the staff were very accommodating.
