Relais Du Kirindy

The staff were really kind and accommodating, and the restaurant WiFi worked extremely well. The hotel is nice considering how remote it is. Rooms are basic, but the showers get very hot. The electricity was off during the day, which was fine. I had very good pumpkin soup for dinner, and the calamari with potatoes at lunch was excellent. I loved staying here and would come back.

The pool has loungers, tables, and chairs, and it’s only a five-minute walk to the sacred Baobab and the local village. The room faced the sunset, and the staff were really friendly. The restaurant food was very good. WiFi is available at reception and in the restaurant, but it was barely usable once a few people got online. That wasn’t a deal breaker for us since we had data. The road to this part of Madagascar is long and bumpy, but the trip was well worth it for us.

The pool and sunbeds were a welcome way to cool off in the heat, and the restaurant food was okay. The room and bathroom felt untidy and not very clean. The mosquito net was dirty, and the toilet lid was just resting on top rather than attached. Loud music from the village went on until 3 a.m., making it hard to sleep. It was okay for one night, but I wouldn’t stay longer. For what you get, the price felt far too high for a single night.

A handy stop for getting to Kirindy forest. The pool area was nice, and the staff, especially the waiters, were really helpful. The rooms were dusty and quite basic, though, and the electricity was limited. Food was mediocre and overpriced.
