Even with the cyclone bringing difficult weather, the team made our two-day stay comfortable and memorable. The owners, especially Jérôme, were thoughtful, attentive, and incredibly helpful. The excellent service and beautiful gift were such kind touches. Thank you as well to Clark, the gardener, for the lovely flowers that brought so much charm to Manga Soa Lodge, and to Etel and David for their warm smiles and great service. Highly recommended!

The beach isn’t the best around, but it’s fine for swimming if you wear shoes because of the stones. The hotel’s location is quiet and remote, which made for a peaceful stay. We were very happy with the excellent rooms, lovely staff, and attentive management. A few small things could be better: restaurant portions and desserts could use improvement, and it would be easy to offer yogurt at breakfast and butter with other meals without having to ask. We booked our island trips with MadaDays, an excellent local agency that provided free hotel pickup and drop-off despite the remote location. Other agencies may charge, so check in advance. The airport ride from the hotel was expensive, 25 EUR for a 15-minute drive, and that could take away half a star. Still, it’s a minor issue in an otherwise great experience. I’d happily return.

The rooms were clean and spacious, decorated in an elegant colonial style, and had beautiful sea views. The hotel near the airport was a pleasant surprise, and the pool facing the ocean made the setting feel special. The food was a letdown: it didn’t feel like authentic local cooking or proper French dishes, portions were small, and breakfast didn’t offer much variety. Service was disorganized and below expectations.

The pool was nice, and I had a relaxing massage from the friendly local staff. But the lodge is isolated, very expensive, and the experience was deeply disappointing. We paid €277 for two nights, which didn’t match the quality. Getting to town cost €30, and the airport, just 10 minutes away, cost €20. It felt like a rip-off. The beach was poor and the Wi-Fi only average. Watching how the staff were treated was uncomfortable too. There was no hot water after sunset. Their solar system didn’t keep water hot overnight, and this wasn’t mentioned anywhere. After a full day out, we couldn’t shower. Every other solar-powered hotel we stayed in Madagascar had at least some hot water in the evening. When we brought it up, the blonde French guy put his hand under the water and asked, “Is this cold for you?” Then he walked away upset without trying to help. The owners were incredibly rude, especially him. They shouldn’t be working in hospitality. I’d asked for a favor because I only had an eSIM with no calling, and they charged me 20,000 Ariary, about €4, for two short calls. One was made from a staff member’s phone, not the owner’s, but I was still charged. When I questioned it, the owner just said, “Because yes, next time use your own phone.” Completely unacceptable. The lodge itself looks beautiful, but the poor facilities, high prices, charges, and lack of hospitality made this a terrible experience. Never coming back!

The place has a special charm and a serene, almost White Lotus-style paradise feel. We were welcomed warmly with a drink, and the staff were outstanding, professional, friendly, and attentive to every detail. It has a unique energy that stays with you. More than recommended, and I can’t wait to return.
