Calypso Hotel

The staff made my two weeks here, especially since I was travelling alone. They're fun to be around and always look after you. The manager also spends time in the restaurant talking with guests, which is great to see. The hotel has a calm atmosphere, and security staff keep an eye on the area nearby. It's a business hotel, so there's no outdoor pool, sundeck, or outdoor bar. My room was clean, smelled nice, and looked good, with a comfortable bed and fast internet. The food was delicious and good quality, and I had no problems with it. The wine selection is worth a mention too. On Sundays, the Asia Brunch has lots of freshly made dishes and desserts. The indoor pool and Hamam are clean and very nice, and the gym has a good range of machines, most in good condition. The main thing that could be better is allergen information. There's no menu card clearly listing what's in each meal. I asked plenty of questions and got answers, but if you have to manage allergies, you know it's hard to rely on what people say when there's confusion and misunderstandings. That makes eating a bit risky if you're worried about a reaction. It may not be something people commonly think about in this part of the world, but with so many international guests, I recommend addressing it. Thanks for a good stay!

The friendly service from Modest at reception is the only good thing I can say right now. This place is a waste of money, and I wish someone had told me to choose a nice Airbnb. There are better ones around here for much less. We arrived today after a long day of travel. I paid for two rooms, a premium room for my sister and me, and another for my daughters that was upgraded to deluxe. The premium room felt like an oven and seemed to have bugs. After about two hours, the air conditioning stopped working. When I called to ask for a room with working air conditioning, the shift supervisor was rude and condescending. They moved us to a smaller room that wasn't what I paid for, and it had so many mosquitoes. It was already very late, and we were exhausted. I'll be looking to move out and make sure my bank doesn't pay this hotel anything. HORRIBLE, not worth the money.

The restaurant is excellent, and the amenities are good. The staff are friendly and the stay was comfortable. The only downside is there's nowhere to sit outdoors.
