The patios tucked near the rooms are great places to read, relax, or spend time together while the bustle of Antananarivo carries on below. Since the Belvedere Hotel sits on a cliff top, there are terrific views from everywhere, including at sunset. For a mid-priced stay in central Antananarivo, it's brilliant, and only a 10-minute walk from the historic rail station. The staff are great and the restaurant is good. Blue Cat restaurant and Bread Mafani bakery coffee shop are close by too.

We had a chance to walk around the neighborhood and stop for coffee and cake, and the location worked well. The room was clean and the staff polite. We also liked the restaurant, especially sitting beside the fireplace, and the food was tasty.

The rooms are tight, but everything is in order, with steady power and plenty of hot water from the tap. The city view is lovely, the food is good and continental style. There were a few mosquitoes at night, but not many.

The staff were nice and helpful, and it's a good hotel for Madagascar. Food was okay at $15 per meal. There was a toilet odor in the rooms, with no vent pipes, and plenty of noise nearby, so bring earplugs.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and everyone at reception and in the restaurant spoke enough English for us to communicate. Rooms are a little small but comfortable enough. The food was okay, though I wouldn't make a special trip for it.
