We spent 5 nights here and loved the building and rooms for their unique character. There's a small courtyard out back where you can get away and relax quietly, but the staff were the real highlight. They were incredibly friendly and hospitable, and couldn't do enough for us.

Set in a beautiful old building in central Antananarivo, this hotel has stunning interiors. The restaurant food is delicious, and breakfast comes with a wide range of options. There's a free massage every afternoon in the health room. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to help with things like booking taxis and exchanging money. I highly recommend it and will definitely return.

It's sad to see this remarkable hotel change hands again, and once more to people outside Malagasy heritage. It was once a cherished part of Malagasy heritage under royal ownership. The history of the place comes through in the opulent furnishings and remarkable views, and I'm grateful for the excellent accommodation and warm staff. I also appreciated the thoughtful Malagasy soap, with Antemoro paper carved into it, and the complimentary coffee. A kettle would be a welcome addition. The food choices are limited at the moment, especially given the potential of the well-known La Verrière space. The hotel's environmental efforts also seem limited. There are far too many towels, even when there's only one guest. Despite those shortcomings, I'll hold on to fond memories of this gem in Madagascar's history.

This traditional Malagasy house has been renovated with real care since covid. The elegant design, beautiful woodwork, and neat decor make the different rooms well worth seeing. But the prices are much too high for what's offered. I understand paying a fair rate for a fancy place, but charging so much for just a room with no extra amenities isn't justified. 150 000 ariary for a 2-hour meeting for 4 people is unacceptable. WhatsApp messages aren't answered promptly either. I waited 2 days for a callback just to ask if a room was available, and outside clients can't have breakfast. The service needs work, and the rates need adjusting.
