Hotel Colbert Spa & Casino

Good facilities. Make sure to try the pastry next door, it belongs to the hotel.

We were welcomed warmly, and the staff were very professional. At first we got an old-fashioned room with aging, poorly maintained bathroom facilities; neither the hot water nor the air conditioning worked. They then upgraded us to a better room with a spa bath, but those higher-priced rooms are carpeted. The carpet wasn’t well kept, and after a few days my allergies flared up. The hot water worked in the new room, but it was yellow, so I couldn’t enjoy the bath. Food was a mixed experience. I found a piece of metal scouring pad in my dish. The manager offered a goodwill gesture afterward, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of care with dish hygiene. I was also very disappointed that children can’t use the pool, while the nearby Louvre lets even babies into the jacuzzi. The hotel still has some appeal, but it’s showing its age. With so much competition, I don’t think the value for money is there anymore.

I came for a spa visit and didn’t stay overnight. The massage therapist was very good, and I loved the body wrap, so the treatments get five stars from me. The facilities need work, though. Lights in the room kept flickering, the music would stop and then start again, and the hammam and showers could use improvement. I’d give the facilities three stars.

A beautiful old hotel in a great location, with good security, professional and well-behaved staff, and excellent food. The two downsides for me were the lack of an elevator and the staff’s limited English.
