Apartments Dudanovski

We were three adults and a dog for six nights, and Dudanovski are pet friendly 😄. After visiting Ohrid more than 100 times over 30-plus years, as someone born in Macedonia, I can say that renting apartment No.4 from Dudanovski was my best experience so far. It’s even better than the photos. Ana and Nikola, the owners, are always there if you need anything. The apartment is gorgeous and furnished in a way that makes you want to stay forever. Everything worked, including the two smart TVs, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The internet was great too, my wife had two three-hour Zoom meetings without a hitch. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a panini press, coffee maker, water heater, and vacuum cleaner, and there’s a washer in the bathroom for longer stays. They even provide a hair dryer and an iron for getting a shirt ready before a night out 😁. It was spotless, and they keep up with all COVID measures. The building is newly constructed, with private underground parking reached by a vehicle platform, so your car is safe during your stay. The location is a five-minute walk from the pier and old bazaar, but away from the busy area, so it’s quiet at night. There are a few bakeries nearby for fresh breakfast, and there’s a police station across the street, so it feels very safe, especially if you’re paranoid. 10/10, I’d recommend Dudanovski to anyone. Great apartment and great hosts.

Modern and comfortable, and close to the city center.

I want to share what happened during our stay. We arrived in the evening with the windows open, and at first everything seemed fine. A couple of hours later, flies were landing in our drinks and we started itching. Then we saw dozens of flies and other insects around the ceiling light. It was our first visit to Macedonia, and we hadn’t realized this could be an issue in Ohrid. I don’t think spraying or fitting mosquito nets would be hard, and at minimum the host could have warned us. I think this is a pretty normal thing for people here. We tried to cancel through Airbnb and did cancel, but the host accused us of lying. Since the bugs gathered around the light, we left the lights on when we were leaving. He messaged us asking why the lights were on if we were leaving. Honestly, it felt scary and made us wonder if we were being watched. We did manage to cancel and leave, and I hope nobody else has the same experience. Apart from the bugs, the apartment is perfectly fine to stay in. For me, it was just okay, but not bad. It’s a 30-minute walk to the city center.
