Flamengo

This was during the state quarantine, so my experience may be different from other guests’. The bathroom was spotless when we arrived, but the floor wasn’t clean, there were drink straws under the bed, and the table had barely been cleaned. The internet was awful all day. You’d be lucky to send a photo to friends. The food was poor and the portions weren’t enough. Breakfast was some cheap drink or yogurt with pastry from a local bakery, lunch was a small serving of rice or fish with a little salad, and dinner was usually pasta. The taste wasn’t that bad, though. With the hygiene, weak Wi-Fi and food, I can’t see how this qualifies as a four-star hotel. I’d have rated it higher if it were a three-star place. Given the pandemic at the time, they should have been paying even more attention to hygiene.

We stayed for three days in late August and early September 2019. At most, I’d give this hotel two and a half stars. It doesn’t deserve four. The problems included: the room had not been cleaned under or around the bed before I arrived, and the TV had few channels, with about half of them in such bad shape they couldn’t be watched. The internet worked when we first arrived, then disappeared. I was told the hotel had a monthly package and that once the limit was reached, there would be no internet until the first of the month. Waiters charged a round higher price for everything and said they didn’t have to give change. There was no safe in the room. When I asked reception to store my things, they said all the safes were broken, but offered to leave them at the front desk so no one would touch them, even though the desk was often unattended. Once, I found my room card on the counter within easy reach while no receptionist was there. On the last day, I had to shower in cold water because it wouldn’t warm up, even after I let it run for a long time.

The hotel has no internet, and it doesn’t deserve four stars. The rooms were dirty and smoky, with a terrible smell. The furniture was broken, and the carpet was filthy with some kind of stains. There’s a nightclub on the first floor, so girls in underwear and swimsuits walk through the corridors in the evening. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever seen.

I had to wait 45 minutes for breakfast, and the food wasn’t good. The room was too small, with nowhere to hang towels or swimsuits to dry after visiting the lake. I asked room service for clean towels because the ones we had smelled, but none came. I asked again the next day and still got nothing, so I went to reception and got them there.
