Laki Hotel

The food and service at the hotel weren't up to a good standard, and the room was in very poor condition. There were only two clothes hangers in our double room, and when we complained, we were told they weren't responsible for that. The beds hadn't been made, and neither the safe nor the air conditioning worked at all.

I hope they respect personal data protection law, but I was disappointed on my return this year. The breakfast counter and floor were dirty with food. I found a cockroach and a spider web that hadn't been cleaned during my five-day stay. They only cleaned the room and didn't change the sheets after two or three days. They were also cutting costs on things like not turning on the sauna and steam bath, which were cold, though the pool was warm. I won't go back.

The pool was fine, but the water was very cold, and the spa was okay. Service was incredibly slow: a simple lunch took two hours, and the salt and mayonnaise only arrived after we'd finished. The fries were cold too. Cocktail prices changed from one day to the next, 500 one day and 700 the next. Not recommended.

The pool and bar area were nice, and staff were happy to call taxis into Ohrid. We checked in early, and the rooms were clean and spacious. Food was reasonably priced and okay, though the starters were apparently the size of main meals. The atmosphere was nice and chilled, but staff could be rude and unaccommodating. The pool shuts at 8pm, as does the spa, which doesn't open until 11am. For a place with spa status, I felt they could have done more to help us relax. The shower drainage was an issue, and the air conditioning didn't seem to work, though it was 30 degrees outside, to be fair to the hotel.
