Millenium Palace

The rooms are dated, and many things don’t work. We waited a full hour for food in the restaurant, and what came was barely edible. The waiters were extremely careless and disrespectful, openly mocking and discriminating against us over religion, language, and race. I condemn the racism, intentional slow service, and disrespect toward me and our entire Turkish group. This is the worst hotel and mentality I’ve encountered anywhere in the Balkans.

The hotel has clearly seen better days, and the rooms are old and worn, as other reviews say. Still, they keep them as clean as they can despite their age. Dinner was curry beef with rice, which was nice, and I thought the dessert was okay. Service was my main complaint. We were often kept waiting, and when we asked for hot water, staff sometimes asked us to pay. I wouldn’t have minded if that had been the hotel’s policy from the start, but it wasn’t. They also hadn’t put a kettle in the room. For an old hotel, I think they did the best they could with the condition.

The location is good, though there are other options too. I’d look elsewhere because the service was awful, even for a four-star hotel. One waitress yelled at a woman in our group, another waiter was completely rude, and breakfast was terrible and gone within ten minutes. If you’re put on the fourth floor, the elevator won’t take you all the way up. You’ll have to carry your 46-pound suitcase yourself.

The hotel needs urgent renovation, and the room prices don’t feel like good value for money. Its location is good, right by the lake and about a 15-minute walk from the city center. I’d give one star for the service and another for the reserved parking spots.
