Austrian Palace Hotel

The cold made our stay miserable. The air conditioner only blew cold air, and after a receptionist checked it and said it would be fixed soon, nothing changed. We spent the first night sleeping in fleece sweaters. The old windows had no insulation, so drafts kept the room cold, and we could hear cars and people outside from bed. My girlfriend woke up with a stiff neck. A cockroach also came out of one of our other rooms. At check-in they owed us 8 euros in change and didn't return it until the last day. They suggested we spend it on their coffee at 2 euros a cup, though coffee downtown costs as little as 60 cents, or at most 80 cents in the fanciest cafes. On our final day, reception refused to call a taxi unless we used the hotel's service for 30 euros. We searched for about half an hour and found one for 15. Wanting to make money is understandable, but doubling the fare is unacceptable. I absolutely can't recommend this hotel. The owner should spend a night in room 201 and try to sleep.

The rooftop restaurant looked attractive, with nice decor and a good concept, but the service wasn't great and food wasn't refreshed regularly. The room was clean, though a bit plain, and we were given a small shampoo bottle instead of hand soap. There was noise and music in the hallway before 7 A.M. The service, location, and food didn't feel like a four-star hotel. It's on the highway, which makes getting to the rest of town difficult. The photos show the view from the room and the restaurant.

We were there in December, and cold air came through the room window. I woke up with a strained neck after the draft hit my back all night. When we asked reception to book an airport taxi, they tried to sell us the hotel's own transfer for 30 euros/dollars. A regular taxi is around 10-12 euro, but when I politely asked for one, they refused to call.

For a four-star hotel, this felt like no hospitality at all. There was only one face towel in the room for two people. When I asked for another, they told me to use the foot towel on my face. I doubt the receptionist would do that in his own home. This happened on 22/09/24 at around 22:00. The shower door was broken too, and the bathroom had no sense of hygiene. Shame.
