Garden Spa Boutique Hotel

The friendly staff always made sure we had a parking space, even though the street is tight, busy, and full of parked cars. The hotel is fairly central, about 1.5 miles from the city centre, with lots of shops and shopping centres nearby. Wi-Fi is free and fast. There’s a small pool and spa for an extra charge, which I think is 10 euros a day. Breakfast is available only by request. The rooms were nice and clean, and the beds comfortable. My husband sometimes has trouble sleeping in a different bed, but he slept fine at Garden Spa Hotel. We liked Alfie, their very friendly bison frise, who loves attention. My husband took him for morning walks, and the receptionist said Alfie slept outside our door all night. We have a bison ourselves, so seeing Alfie helped us miss our own dog a little less. A kettle and cups for making tea or coffee in the room would have been nice.

Parking is on the street outside the building, if you can find a space. The room was cold, unmaintained, and had no heating. The hotel is very small, and pretty much everything is old. The room was spacious, but had no bedside table or chair, and is best avoided. Breakfast was a disaster. We were here on business and wouldn’t recommend stopping by for business or pleasure. You have to schedule pool use, and it doesn’t even look like a pool.

I’ve never stayed in a worse hotel. The staff were uncultured and unfriendly, and the rooms were dirty and cramped, with old, ruined furniture that was literally falling apart. The humidity was noticeable, and we had to keep the window open to breathe. Staff entered our room when we were out without permission, and didn’t tidy it. It was still messy afterward, with only a towel left behind. This place certainly doesn’t meet the advertised four-star standard. I paid for seven nights but canceled after three and got no refund. They demand payment in full immediately on arrival. I had to come back twice to pay because the first time nobody could hear us over the dogs making noise in the hotel lobby, which didn’t seem to bother anyone. The woman at reception rudely asked whether I was visiting for private or business reasons. I think that’s personal and none of her business. Afterward, they complained about me through Booking, saying I was noisy and demanding compensation for their worn-out furniture. I realized the situation in time and took pictures of the room. I’ll be happy to show them to potential guests so they can decide for themselves.

We checked in early, then used the hotel lobby to work after checking out. The staff were really friendly, and the clean rooms were a good size. Breakfast was okay, and good for the low price. It’s a good hotel for the money. Just be aware that the spa costs extra. It’s only the pool, sauna, and massage room. The jacuzzi is a section of the pool with bubbles, not a separate hot tub. The spa isn’t included in the room price. It costs €25 per person, or €10 per person without sauna access.
